Python Frameworks

Host Django, Flask, and other WSGI frameworks

Any WSGI-compatible app works. Here are the most common use cases among our customers.

Full-stack

Django hosting

Websites, intranets, and back offices with the Django admin, the ORM on MySQL / MariaDB or SQLite, and static files served by LiteSpeed.

Microframework

Flask hosting

REST APIs, small internal tools, dashboards, or lightweight dynamic sites — the ideal choice for a Nano or Micro plan.

CMS

Wagtail CMS

The CMS built on Django: content sites, corporate sites, and blogs, with a user-friendly editing interface for your clients.

WSGI

Bottle, Pyramid, Falcon…

Bottle, Pyramid, Falcon, or a simple hand-written WSGI app: if it exposes an application object, it runs.

Deployment

Deploy a Python app in 4 steps

No server to configure: cPanel handles the environment, you handle the code.

  1. Create the app in cPanel

Open Setup Python App, choose the Python version (from 2.7 to 3.13), the app folder, and the URL it will respond on (domain, subdomain, or subdirectory).

  2. Upload your code

Upload your files via SFTP, SSH / Rsync, or the cPanel File Manager. If your code is on Git, you can also clone your repository.

  3. Install your dependencies

One click on Run Pip Install in Setup Python App (or pip install -r requirements.txt) installs everything listed in your requirements.txt. Each app has its own environment, isolated from the others.

On the command line, activate the environment first: Setup Python App shows the command to copy.

  4. Set up the WSGI entry point and restart

The passenger_wsgi.py file tells the server where to find your app. One click on Restart (or touch tmp/restart.txt) and your site is live, with free SSL.

passenger_wsgi.py — Django example
# WSGI entry point read by LiteSpeed
import os, sys

sys.path.insert(0, os.path.dirname(__file__))
os.environ.setdefault(
    "DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE", "myproject.settings"
)

from django.core.wsgi import get_wsgi_application
application = get_wsgi_application()

# For Flask, simply replace with:
# from app import app as application
Simplified example. Our Django deployment guide provides the complete, production-ready version.
Included for Python Developers

Everything you need to run a Python project

Included on every plan, starting with Nano.

Python 2.7 to 3.13

One version per app, changeable anytime. Ideal for modernizing an old project without breaking everything.

pip and virtualenv

An isolated virtual environment per app; install your packages without administrator rights.

Terminal, SSH, and Rsync

Run your manage.py commands, migrations, and scripts from the command line.

Free SSL and Security

Automatic SSL certificates, Imunify360 firewall, and account isolation: your app is served over HTTPS from day one.

MySQL / MariaDB and SQLite

Connect with mysqlclient, PyMySQL, or SQLAlchemy, and manage your MySQL databases with phpMyAdmin, preinstalled.

Redis and Memcached

Django's cache or Flask-Caching in RAM, for faster page generation, with no external service to pay for.

Cron Jobs

Schedule your Python scripts: sending emails, cleanup, data imports, Django commands.

Reserved Resources

4 GB of RAM, 2 AMD EPYC vCPUs, and 30 entry processes per account, isolated by CloudLinux: a resource-hungry neighbor won't slow down your app.

Twice-Daily Backups

30 days of backups you can restore yourself from cPanel: code, environment, and databases.

Shared or VPS?

Is shared Python hosting right for your project?

We'd rather be clear from the start: here's what works very well with us, and what's better suited to a dedicated server.

Ideal for

  • Django, Flask, or Wagtail sites: business websites, blogs, portfolios, content sites
  • REST APIs and back ends for mobile apps or React / Vue sites
  • Business apps: appointment booking, forms, client portals
  • Scheduled scripts (cron): imports, reports, email sending
  • Internal tools and dashboards for a small team

Better on a VPS

  • Always-on processes: Celery or RQ workers, Discord bots, Telegram bots in polling mode
  • ASGI apps (FastAPI, Django Channels, Starlette) and WebSockets
  • Heavy computing: AI model training, GPUs, massive data processing
  • Root access or system packages to install (Docker, specific C libraries)

Frequently Asked Questions

Python hosting questions

Can I host a Django or Flask app on shared hosting?

Yes. From cPanel, the Setup Python App tool creates a virtual environment with the Python version of your choice. You install your dependencies with pip, and your WSGI app (Django, Flask, Bottle, Pyramid…) is served directly by the web server.

Which Python versions are available?

Every Python version from 2.7 to 3.13. You choose the version per app, and can change it anytime from cPanel.

Can I use FastAPI?

Yes, for a simple REST API, thanks to the a2wsgi adapter: FastAPI is an ASGI (asynchronous) framework, while our servers run Python apps over WSGI. You do lose WebSockets, streaming, lifespan events, and the performance gains of async, though. For a production FastAPI app, a VPS is a better fit.

Can I use WebSockets with Python?

No, not on shared hosting: Python apps run over WSGI, a request/response model that can't keep a WebSocket connection open. Django Channels, Flask-SocketIO, and FastAPI WebSockets therefore won't work. For simple real-time features, you can use periodic requests (polling) or an external service like Pusher or Ably, which your app feeds with simple HTTP calls. WebSockets do work with a Node.js app on our servers, however. For native WebSockets in Python, a VPS is a better fit.

Can I install any package with pip?

Yes, in your app's virtual environment, without administrator rights. Most packages (Django, Flask, requests, Pillow, pandas…) install without any issues. However, installing packages that must be compiled and depend on a missing system library may fail.

Which database should I use with Python?

MySQL / MariaDB (with mysqlclient, PyMySQL, or SQLAlchemy) or SQLite. Redis and Memcached are also available for caching.

Can I run scheduled tasks in Python?

Yes, with cPanel cron jobs, for example to run a Django management command or a script every hour. Always-on processes (Celery or RQ workers, Discord bots) aren't suited to shared hosting.

Which plan should I choose for a Django site?

All plans have the same server power. For a Django app, count the virtual environment (often 100 to 300 MB) on top of your code and media: the Micro plan (2 GB) suits a small project, and the Vtiny plan (5 GB) leaves comfortable headroom.
